Please follow these guidelines when adding to CowleyRoad.org

Formatting

Each page aims to compile the history of the building, in chronological order. Therefore, please try to put your recollections in date order where possible, with the most recent dates at the top of the page. If the date/s you want to write about do not already have a heading, please add a new heading. If you are using the Wikitext editor (which you can select by clicking 'Wikitext editor' at the top left of the editing screen), headings are created using two equals signs. For example, to create a heading for 1970-1980 you would type this:

  ==1970-1980==

Point of view

This is a community history, so colourful recollections are welcomed and objectivity cannot be guaranteed. However! Blatant lies, self promotion or slagging off will be deleted. Likewise any comments which are discriminatory or hateful. If you see them, please remove them.

References

Wherever possible, if there is an external reference (website, book, etc) to backup the facts you are adding, please include this. Switch to the Wikitext editor, then add a reference by typing the following, at the point in the text where you want the footnote number to appear:

  <ref>Text to appear in the footnote itself</ref>

Homepage images

The homepage at CowleyRoad.org displays the most recent dated image of each building. If you've noticed that one of them is now out of date and you want to replace it, just add your image to the relevant page in the normal way. Please ensure it is a good quality photo of that building only, showing the entire building, with the sun shining onto it and not from behind it!

In order to make the image appear on the homepage, you will need to make sure the filename is formatted as follows. For a photo of number 250 Cowley Road taken on the 24th October 2017, your filename would look like this:

  250-2017-10-24.jpg

If the building has a special address that is not just a number - eg, 17a, or UPP, you will need to use the building name (copy this from the page title) prefixed by 'xx' and then either 'north_' or 'south_' depending on which side of the road it's on.For example, a photo of Bartlemas Chapel taken on the 24th October 2017, should be called:

  xxnorth_Bartlemas-2017-10-24.jpg

If you don't know the day or the month these can be omitted, though it may mean the image will not appear on the homepage if there is a similar dated photo of the same address with a more precise date available.
