2015 - 2020

The Coral off-track betting shop was at 270-272 Cowley Road. Planning permission to change the property to a betting shop was approved in March 2015.[1]

The corporate facade contrasts strongly with the murals on the upper floor which have become emblematic of Cowley Road. Fortunately, unlike other buildings in the same row, these murals have not yet been painted over. Coral closed on 16 February 2020.

This building is on the site of the eastern terminus and stabling of the horse-drawn tram, which used to run into the city centre. The tram is commemorated in the mural on the eastern wall.
